This is the stuff I grew up on!
I entertained myself for hours as a preschooler... listening to Sesame Street records. Sesame Street sure has come a long way since the 1970's.
Now I get a real kick out of the album art & how styles & characters have changed in 30+ years.
Oscar was orange? I don't even remember that... must've been before I was born....and check out the mutton chops!
Big Bird looked so awkward....and his voice had a goofy twang to it in some of the songs he sang.
Elmo wasn't around until 1983.
...and who can forget Mr. Hooper?
I think it's wonderful that Sesame Street has been around so long...and I hope they'll be around for another 40 years teaching kids to read, share, and have fun learning.
:o)

I grew up on those same records!!! Although they were hand me downs from my Auntie. I spent hours singing about Franklin Roosevelt! Does anyone remember him???? I for some reason think that the orange Oscar is actually Oscar's cousin, but I can't think of a name!
Oops! I transposed the name! It was Roosevelt Franklin! LOL
I hate to admit but I've been watching Sesame Street for 40 years! It first came on when I was 3 and I've watched it with my much younger brother, my kids, my nephews and if I see it on while switching the channnel, I stop for a few minutes to watch.
Sesame Street taught me to read, to share, to be kind to others. What else could you want in a Children's TV show? I hope it's on for another 40 years!
I remember Roosevelt Franklin & the song It was upbeat & fun!
This little short from Sesame Street brings back a flood of childhood memories for me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWrUykkc-bs
Every once in awhile they play an old clip like that during the show & I'll come running to watch it with my kids. It's amazing how timeless & wonderful it is today...and hasn't lost any of it's magic for today's kids!
