Not your typical wildlife...in Southwest Ohio!
We heard a strange sound coming from the woods....
it sounded like the woman in dispair on PBS's Masterpiece Mystery.
Hoping to find something as fabulous as one of Edward Gorey's illustrations we went on a hunt...carefully & warily. I figured it wasn't a coyote...which is pretty much the only thing that really scares me around here.
There was a rustling in the bushes & a big flash of blue feathers!
And then there it was!!! In all it's glory!
A ...peacock?!!!
I'm puzzled why there was a peacock in our woods, but figure that somebody must keep it as a pet.
It was very vocal... "Awwwk~!" ...it hollered at us as I rapidly snapped a few quick photos!
:o)

Wow, that's not something you see everyday huh?! I don't know why but for some reason peacocks scare the bejeebies out of me LOL. I think it's because one time we went to the zoo and one was walking around and it had all its feathers up and was hissing and shaking its feathers. I was afraid it was going to attack one of the kids.
They are beautiful creatures though.
Well, whaddaya know about that?! That's something, huh? I've read that peacocks roam. I've always thought it would be cool to have one. ...
It was very cool & not in attack mode...as it was more shy than tame. The kids were fascinated & I remember now that the Cincinatti zoo has them wandering around....so how dangerous can they be?
I'm going to find out what they eat & see if it will hang around!
:o)
I promise not to give it a name though!
LOL about not giving it a name.
How cool to have seen that!! I have a friend who raises them, but I've never been to her house so I've not seen one in person. The colors on the one you saw are so vivid.
That is so cool... and sort of weird too :) I think peacocks look lovely but they sound bloody horrible!
